What's New
The week of April 12
Container Plants
'Light Salmon'
Designer Geraniums
'Hermine Grashoff'
Nasturtiums
'Latin' Dahlias
Light peachy-salmon, extra large, double flowers. Ideal accent plant. This series of geraniums are excellent in containers and flowerbeds. These recently re-discovered, French heirlooms are extremely vigorous. Double flowers smother this Old-World trailing plant. Trails 60-90 cm. Makes for a spectacular backdrop flowing over containers & walls. Superb display in gardens & borders. Also a marvelous cutflower and a traditional favorite. Prefers sun & well drained soil. Blooms in summer.
'Alabama' Coleus 'Wojo's Gem' Vinca Ivy Pennisetum
A vigorous, bushy plant which thrives in full sun to shade unlike traditional coleus. A very showy accent plant which compliments other bedding plants or mixed plantings beautifully. Striking contrast of bright yellow leaf centres with vivid green leaf edges. Trailing vines add the finishing touch to pots, windowboxes & hanging baskets. Excellent in containers, Pennisetum or 'Fountain Grass' has green-white plumes in summer and loves the afternoon sun.
Behind the Scenes
In the Show Garden Statuary Fuchsia Hanging Baskets
Even though its cold this week the Puschkinas continue to bloom non-stop in the Show garden. These tiny beauties are very hardy, trouble-free and naturalize quickly to form informal drifts. The nursery staff are busy unpacking statuary. In case you didn't know, the nursery has officially opened this week. Always a favorite on Mother's Day, the Fuchsia's have already begun to bloom.
