Pick of the Crop for 2006
Bedding Plants Perennials Trees & Shrubs
Serenity Dark Lavender Osteospermum sports daisy-like flowers in shades deep lavender to light mauve and are perfect for sunny beds and containers because of their tolerance of heat and drought. This new and unusually coloured delphinium ' Red Caroline', has carmine-red blooms, aging to light rose red. A much sought after hardy perennial for the middle to back of the border. This tall, narrow 'Blue Arrow' juniper is the perfect size for smaller landscapes and makes an interesting accent in mixed shrub beds. Blue Arrow displays beautiful, dense blue foliage requiring little to no shearing to maintain its compact form.
Roses Fruits Bulbs
Morden Belle Rose is a great performer that produces double, medium-pink, lightly fragrant blooms that boast excellent disease resistance. The reddish-yellow, sweet and aromatic fruit that the Golden Spice pear produces is good for eating and processing. Each spring it produces white, lightly fragrant blooms and it is a manageable size for the average garden. Elegantly curved, funnel-shaped crimson-red flowers make Majestic Red calla a lovely addition to any setting. It makes an excellent exotic cutflower.
Vegetables Evergreens Apples
The 'Fanfare' cucumber is the perfect bush type, slicing cucumber for container growing or growing in gardens with limited space. An All American Selections winner with great yields! The durable and dense nature of the Brandon/Morden Yew makes it a desirable and excellent addition to rock gardens or moist and partially shady areas of your yard. New for the prairies, Dexter Jackson bears heavy annual yields of average-size, red-streaked amber fruit that are fantastic for both eating and cooking.
