What's New
The week of February 25
Thorns and Roses
This variegated Agave is just one of the stunning examples that arrived from California.
Another fine specimen is this Carniegiea gigantea, more commonly known as the Saguaro cactus.
Our cutflower department has an interesting selection of green coloured roses. This particular variety is called Green Tea.
Tilllandsia or air plants have furry scales that absorb water and nutrients from the air.
Air plants bloom infrequently and, although small, the flowers are brightly coloured.
Variety abounds - both tonal and textural - with these easy-to-care for air plants.
Behind the Scenes
Planting of roses is underway. The first step is to soak the bare rootstock overnight.
Staff then pot the roses - over 4,000 in all this year.
The plants are then tagged and sent off to get growing. Hardy roses go to cold frames, while the tender roses get a warmer environment.
