Aluminum Plant African Violet Chinese Evergreen
The varigated foliage is unlike any other indoor plant with its shiny silver, irregularly-shaped markings. The beautiful African violet adjusts well to the warm temperatures and dry air of homes. While they require good light, direct sunlight is not necessary. Sunnier, warmer windows are better in the winter. Aglaonemas or Chinese Evergreen are excellent plants on a table or as floor plants. You can grow Chinese Evergreen anywhere as long as it is out of full sun. Keep the soil barely moist.
Corn Plant Cymbidium English Ivy
One of the most popular dracenas is the corn plant, Dracaena fragrans massangeanai, that looks like corn. It has arching leaves of green with a chartreuse-yellow band down the center. The genus Cymbidium consists of more the 50 species world wide ranging from Australia and New Guinea and throughout Asia. There are over 40 forms of English ivy, all with different leaf shapes from nearly round to strongly lobed and pointed. They can be trained onto wire forms for attractive topiaries. Keep the soil evenly moist.
Wandering Jew Croton Warneckii Dracaena
Wandering Jews are robust plants that come in numerous varieties: green with purple undersides, green and silver with purple undersides; leaves with blue, red, or brown. Grow in bright, filtered light. Keep the soil evenly moist but not soggy. If plants were people, the Croton would be the wild man at the party. Bright, loud, in green, yellow and red, it has a leaf shape like no other. As a floor plant, the croton makes an immediate impression. Dracena's come in all sizes and colors. They are easy to grow and survive adverse conditions. They grow slow and make excellent accents in the home.
