What's New
The week of January 30
Pots, orchids, behind the scenes
Pots Reiger Begonia Cyclamen
The girls have been busy sorting out the huge shipment of pots that arrived late last week. Rieger begonias are available this week. Their foliage is attractive all year and their flowers can brighten the darkest of winter days. The blossoms of the Cyclamen twist and turn like tiny butterfly wings. The silvery, marbled coloring of the foliage accents the beautiful flower colors of lavender, rose, maroon, red, or white.
Orchids
Morning Joy Good Light Levels are key Watering orchids
Beallaria 'Peggy Ruth Carpenter' is a very rewarding orchid. It grows extremely well and has long-lasting flowers. Light levels are key to orchid growing. Orchids do not do well in direct sunlight. However, without sufficient light, they will not bloom. Indirect light or diffuse light is best. Nothing kills orchids faster than sitting in a pool of water. Water orchids early in the day, so the roots are dry at night. In average conditions, a 6-inch pot would need watering about once a week.
