The week beginning
July 16

Vegetables...

It is still early in the season, but the vegetable trial garden is starting to look good. Every year Hole's trials dozens of varieties of corn, peas, lettuce, onions and much more in order to determine which varieties do best under real-world conditions

Speaking of vegetables...

The front greenhouse still has a good selection of tomatoes. These Vendor tomatoes have tons of fruit and are available for only $15.

 Neon!

For some flashy colour every year try one of these 'Neon Splash' spirea in the front yard.

Colour...

These La Bella series snapdragons are just one of the great bedding plants still available to add some instant colour to your yard.

A cross-Canada effort...

Philipe, a summer student from Quebec deadheads on one of the many hundreds of moss hanging baskets scheduled for the World's here in Edmonton next month.

 Mmmmm...

There is still a healthy selection of herbs available including these variegated and golden marjorams.

Perennials

This is one of the best times of year for shopping for perennials...I always think there are more blooming perennials than ever, like these dwarf Asiatic lilies 'Pixie Garden' and the False sunflower 'Lorraine Sunshine'.

 More perennials!

This Excelsior foxglove is simply stunning as it displays its full, colour-rich, glory.

 Not Pink!

There are some funky wicker flamingos available now in the garden centre that are raising a few eyebrows.

Tis the Season...

Christmas comes early at Hole's as the staff busily prepare for the second influx of poinsettias. The first batch showed up as rooted cuttings last week and have already been transplanted.

The next round in is scheduled for Thursday to make a grand total of over 40,000 plants. Just ask our staff: that's plenty of poinsettia soil mix and lots and lots of pots!
